Could IPL bring Wasim Akram back?

"I fear that the the IPL can be a serious distraction and destruction if the International Cricket Council (ICC) doesn't intervene because it involves huge money and players are ready to abandon international cricket." - Wasim Akram

But Wasim Akram, now out of the game, spoke out that it was all of ICC's own doing.

"Had players been properly paid by the ICC and the national boards, they would have joint such leagues. Now there comes when players are willing to opt out of international cricket, which is dangerous."

Though he has said that the Test format will be unaffected, Twenty20 could be the demise of the One-Day International with "20 to 40 overs being boring."

But in this context, is the 50- over format even worth saving?

Either ways, imagine Wasim in the Indian Premier League.

He is probably the greatest bowler of the limited format, and him in the subcontinent summers would have been special.

Or like Pietersen said "loosing a million bucks is silly", could the IPL see Wasim make a return?

Why not? He was never about sheer pace or anything. He generated pace and swing through sheer artistry, and with the man keeping fit, we reckon he could come back. Here is a li'l reminder of what Wasim could do with this video of him in 1992 World Cup Final against England. I know it has been played a million times over, but this is art in motion. It really is. And his devastating good looks won't hurt either.

Or is it me just yearning back for the 90's. Wasim, we miss you.
